Avalon High by Meg Cabot

Avalon High, I was starting to think, might not be so bad after all.

Maybe it's not where Ellie wants to be, but if you have to start at a new school, Avalon High is typical enough: There's Lance, the jock. Jennifer, the cheerleader. And Will, senior class president, quarterback, and all-around good guy.

But not everyone at Avalon High is who they appear to be . . . not even, as Ellie is about to discover, herself.

As a bizarre drama begins to unfold, Ellie has to wonder, what part does she play in all this? Do the coincidences she's piecing together really mean—as in King Arthur's court—that tragedy is fast approaching for her new friends?

Ellie doesn't know if she can do anything to stop the coming trouble. But somehow, she knows she has to try.

I chose this book because I enjoyed other books by the author, Meg Cabot, such as "The Princess Diaries" and "All-American Girl". While the back of the book did sound intriguing, what really sold me was the cover. As bad as it sounds, I 100% judge a book by its' cover. I'm excited to dive into this book and see what really lies beneath its' cover.

At first when I chose this book i didnt think that it was going to be a book that interested me because i am not into science fiction and starwars. But once i started reading the book I really enjoyed it. The book is the right mix of fiction and action, i would suggest this book to anyone because i think that anyone would enjoy reading it.

I decided to read the book "Avalon High" because I read all the books in the series "The Princess Diaries," and those books are all by the same Author. I enjoyed the Meg Cabot books before so I decided to start reading this book with the same author. The summary of the book sounded interesting, because I like books I can relate to and the book looked relatable. Also, the cover of the book was colorful and looked like it might be a interesting book.

I chose this book because the cover looked interesting and I have read other books by Meg Cabot that I have really enjoyed. When I started reading this book I got really into it, and could not put it down. (I actually read this book in two days, so it was a quick read!) I really liked how it turned out to be an unsuspecting love story. It had just the right amount of suspense and love to keep me hooked. I would deinately recommend this book to any girl who likes reading love stories!

I picked this book from the list because it looked interesting and it was one of the only books where nothing really terrible happened to the main character. Also, I’ve read some of Meg Cabot’s other books and liked them.

In the book "Avalon High," by Meg Cabot, there are many characters with different and unique personalities. I can not personally relate to a specific character, but I can relate to the book. Ellie Harrison, the main character is a new student in a new school and she is named after a legend during the medieval ages. I can not relate to her because I have never had to move schools or my parents are not specialists in medieval times. The other characters in the book are not relatable to me either because I am not a cheerleader like Jennifer Gold nor a football star like Lance or Will. Even though the characters are not specifically relatable to me, the book is. I can relate to the book as a whole because I go to a typical high school with the stereotypical students that are the same in the book.

Usually when I read a book, I can relate to the characters in one way or another. With this book, however, I kind of relate to them, but not really. To me, the main character seems caught up in all the drama of high school, and I’m not like that at all. I prefer to stay away from that. Also, she has people from the round table in her high school, which isn’t like my school. I can relate to her though because, like her, I enjoy running and other things she does.

I do not think Meg Cabot’s Avolon High was worthy of being on the Abe Awards list. It was an ok book, but it is like every other book she’s written. I didn’t think it was really original and it definitely wouldn’t be a book that I would have to read over again.

As I was reading this book, while I felt enthralled, I couldn't really relate to any characters. The main character, Elaine, has just moved across the country and finds herself kind of out of place in her school. I can't relate because I've lived in the same town practically my whole life. Although I couldn't relate, I did appreciate her attitude and drive to make new friends and make her school year a memorable one.

The reason I choose this book was because it looked like a girly book that I might be able to relate to. I really liked the cover and also my friend just read it and told me it was pretty good.

While reading this book I found it to be quiet difficult to relate to the character. She was new to her school and I have lived in my town and known the people around me my whole life. I have never had to go out of my way to make new friends. I do believe though this book is a lot like Hinsdale Central. Hinsdale has its drama and also including the jocks, cheerleaders, and senior class presidents. It was difficult to relate specifically to the character but, easy to connect with the setting of the story.

This book is not up to my standards for being on the Abes Awards list. I believe that an Abes book should somehow impact your life or teach you a moral. The last book I read Shattered Glass taught me so much about how greatful I should be for the life I have. I still think that Meg Cabot wrote a really good book that any teen girl would be interested in reading. I do not recommend this book to boys though because it is based off of a girls life. Even though I thought it was a good book, I did not get anything out of reading it.

I liked this book a lot. I didnt know hardly anything about this legend of the book, I could relate to the character because I know how it feels to move around a lot and not know anyone.

The book, "Avalon High," by Meg Cabot, in my opinion, is worthy of being on the Abe list this year. For a book to be selected on this list, it has to has to be popular among Illinois students. Personally, I believe "Avalon High" deserves to be on the Abe list because it is not a dry book. The book really drags you into it with the comedy and intrigue. The thing I liked about this book is that it wasn't the common romantic or high school drama story you would hear. It gave you that feel of current high school feeling, and also a feeling of how life was in medieval times, because of how the author compared every high school character to medieval characters in the story, "The Lady of Shalott." Because the novel was written this way, it gave you a sense of how similar and how different the drama is between stories from medieval times and current times. This book deserves to be on the Abe list because it is not predictable and it doesn't leave you bored.

I do not feel that this book is worthy of being on the Abe list. It didn't leave any lasting impressions nor was it overly well written. I found myself forgetting the novel every time I put it down (which was often) because it did not keep my attention. I did not feel that it was relatable and the plot was too much of a stretch and predictable.
